Clips from Three's Company - Helen's Job (S02E02)
"I meant downstairs. I was asking Stanley to raise my allowance."
Three's Company
"And he said, "No," and I got mad and said..."
Three's Company
"I was gonna go out and get a job."
Three's Company
"Hey, good for you."
Three's Company
"- That's terrific. - What's terrific?"
Three's Company
"Mrs. Roper's gonna get a job. Isn't that great?"
Three's Company
"Oh, no, I'm not. And it's terrible. I don't want a job."
Three's Company
"I'm just so thankful that he didn't take me seriously."
Three's Company
"Oh, thanks for the maple syrup. Wait a minute, Mrs. Roper."
Three's Company
"Why don't you have a little seat here for a minute? How come you don't want a job?"
Three's Company
"Because I don't wanna go to work."
Three's Company
"I-I-I enjoy staying home..."
Three's Company
"just, uh, you know, puttering around the house,"
Three's Company
"working in the garden, going shopping..."
Three's Company
"Begging your husband for more money."
Three's Company
"Oh, I can get around him on that."
Three's Company
"I know a few tricks. Well, yeah, but that's demeaning."
Three's Company
"Hey, now, hold it, girls. Don't call us "girls.""
Three's Company
"Yeah. We're women."
Three's Company
"Okay, hold it, women."
Three's Company
"You know, if Mrs. Roper doesn't want a job, I don't think it's..."
Three's Company
"Jack, would you please just stay out of this? Now, Mrs. Roper,"
Three's Company
"a job could really be wonderful for you."
Three's Company
"- It could change your whole life. - How?"
Three's Company
"You wouldn't have to depend on Mr. Roper for anything."
Three's Company
"That's the way it is now."
Three's Company
"Wouldn't you rather be independent and be your own person?"
Three's Company
"Look, fellas. Hey! Quit pulling!"
Three's Company
"What are you trying to do? [ Scoffs ]"
Three's Company
"We're just trying to help Mrs. Roper expand her horizons."
Three's Company
"I thought we were trying to help her find a job."
Three's Company
"Do you girls know anything about marriage?"
Three's Company
"Certainly. It's when a boy and a girl fall in love..."
Three's Company
"and live happily ever after, and everything they do is legal."
Three's Company
"That's a fairy tale. That's for children."
Three's Company
"That's right. If they want children, they can have them too."
Three's Company
"Janet, what I'm trying to... Jack, look. All we're trying to do..."
Three's Company
"is tell Mrs. Roper that this is the day of equal rights for women."
Three's Company
"A woman has a right to make her own life..."
Three's Company
"To go out in the world and make something of herself."
Three's Company
"But, Janet, what about a woman's right to be a homemaker if she wants to?"
Three's Company
"Isn't that an equal right too?"
Three's Company
"Janet, all I'm saying is that it's none of our business."
Three's Company
"It's not your business, it's not your business."
Three's Company
"It's certainly none of my business, so I'm gonna keep my nose out of it."
Three's Company
"That's a good idea, Jack. Thank you."
Three's Company
"Now I can talk to Mrs. Roper without being interrupted."
Three's Company
"Mrs. Roper, it just happens that..."
Three's Company
"the cafeteria next to the flower shop needs a new cashier."
Three's Company
"Why don't I go call the manager? He's a good friend of mine."
Three's Company
"No, no, no! Janet, I told you I don't want a job!"
Three's Company
"Janet, did you hear what she said?"
Three's Company
"Yes, I heard what she said. And you said it was none of your business."
Three's Company
"[ Doorbell Rings ]"
Three's Company
"Oh, hi, Mr. Roper."
Three's Company
"Where'd you go for the maple syrup, Vermont?"
Three's Company
"Oh, I'm sorry, Stanley. We just got to talking, and... Talking?"
Three's Company
"While I sat downstairs and watched my hotcakes get cold."
Three's Company
"- I'm sorry. - It's all right."
Three's Company
"What were you talking about? About Mrs. Roper getting a job."
Three's Company
"No, I'm laughing. I mean, you working? That's really funny."
Three's Company
"What do you mean? I could get a job if I wanted to."
Three's Company
"Hold it, hold it. You're starting to make me laugh again."
Three's Company
"Mr. Roper, if I were you, I'd drop the subject. You see..."
Three's Company
"Jack, will you just stay out of this? I got enough trouble..."
Three's Company
"Okay, you're on your own."
Three's Company
"Mrs. Roper, good news."
Three's Company
"I just spoke to my friend, and I talked him into trying you out."
Three's Company
"He says the cashier's job is yours if you want it."
Three's Company
"Why don't you at least check it out? Here's the address."
Three's Company
"She doesn't want a job."
Three's Company
"If you don't mind, Stanley, I can speak for myself."
Three's Company
"Fair enough. You tell her you don't want it."
Three's Company
"If I wanted to take that job, I would."
Three's Company
"Over my dead body, you would."
Three's Company
"You just made me an offer I can't refuse."
Three's Company
"[ Doorbell Rings ] Come in. The door's open."
Three's Company
"Hi, Jack. I hope I didn't catch you at a bad time."
Three's Company
"I'm waiting for my bread to rise, and I'm making a cake."
Three's Company
"Oh, good. I was afraid you were busy."
Three's Company
"Something I can do for you, Mr. Roper?"
Three's Company
"Yeah. You know, I'm not the kind of guy to go around borrowing things."
Three's Company
"You know, my wife went to work today, and I..."
Three's Company
"You wanna borrow a wife?"
Three's Company
"Do me a favor, would you? Once you start beating this, you're not supposed to stop."
Three's Company
"A little faster."
Three's Company
"Just, uh... Just keep beating that until it's nice and fluffy."
Three's Company
"What is this we're making?"
Three's Company
"It's a lemon swirl pound cake."
Three's Company
"Oh, it sounds delicious. You hungry?"
Three's Company
"No. I had a great lunch. I made it myself."
Three's Company
"- Oh, really? What'd you have? - Peanut butter sandwich."
Three's Company
"Well, we must exchange recipes sometime."
Three's Company
"There's nothin' to it. All you need are two pieces of bread,"
Three's Company
"some peanut butter and a knife."
Three's Company
"Gee, I wish I had time to write that down."
Three's Company
"Boy, what do they teach you guys at cooking school?"
Three's Company
"Okay, that's fine. I'll take over now, thank you."
Three's Company
"So, how's your day been without Mrs. Roper?"
Three's Company
"Oh, nice and quiet."
Three's Company
"Like, when I'm reading, nobody barges into the bathroom and disturbs me."
Three's Company
"You're doing okay then?"
Three's Company
"Yeah, terrific. As a matter of fact, I could do whatever I want."
Three's Company
"Like, right now, I'm going down to the Regal Beagle and just relax."
Three's Company
"Boy, I tell ya, Jack, I'm-I'm just fine."
Three's Company
"This guy is doing just fine."
Three's Company
"Mmm. This is good. Want a taste?"
Three's Company
"Mr. Roper, wasn't there something you came up here to borrow?"
Three's Company
"Oh, yeah. You wouldn't happen to have a jar of peanut butter, would you?"
Three's Company
"Oh. Sorry. I never use it. I hate the way it sticks to the roof of the refrigerator."
Three's Company
"I'm doin' just fine, girls. Just fine."
Three's Company
"What was that all about?"
Three's Company
"I guess he's found out he doesn't need his wife anymore."
Three's Company
"You see, I told you what would happen if you insisted on meddling."
Three's Company
"Oh, Jack, don't exaggerate."
Three's Company
"What Mrs. Roper is doing will probably really help their marriage."
Three's Company
"[ Doorbell Rings ] That's right. I mean, next time we see Mrs. Roper,"
Three's Company
"she'll be a whole new different woman."
Three's Company
"Did you have a nice day, Mrs. Roper?"
Three's Company
"Mrs. Roper, you look so... Different."
